Privacy Policy

  • Thank you for visiting us online at LincolnFamilies.org and for placing your trust in Lincoln Families. We are committed to protecting and safeguarding the privacy of online visitors, families and donors. If you choose to provide us with information that can be used to identify you, such as your full name, email address, mailing address, telephone number or credit card information (“personal identifiable information” or “PII”), this Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and disclose your PII. This Privacy Policy does not apply to protected health information that you may provide to us, which is covered by our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices (Spanish version available here).

We welcome your feedback. Please send us an email at info@lincolnfamilies.org.

  • Generally, you can browse our website without providing any PII. However, you may choose to provide PII on our website for the following purposes:

    1. Donations: If you choose to make a donation, we will request contact information (name, email address, phone number and mailing address) and your credit card information to facilitate your gift. Unless you specify that your gift should be “anonymous,” we list the names of donors who give $100 and above in our fall newsletter to acknowledge your generosity publicly. In cases where donations are specifically made in honor or memory of an individual, we send an acknowledgment letter to the individual or their family. With the permission of the donor, the donor’s name is included. The gift amount is never included. If you prefer to not provide your PII on our website to make a donation, you can always call our Development Department to make a donation by calling 510.273.4700, x4324.

    2. Cookies and Tracking Technology: Our website may use cookies and other technologies to collect information. Cookies are small bits of information that our website places on the hard drive of your computer. We may use cookies to facilitate your login process, allow you to personalize and store your settings, collect usage information, determine our total audience size and traffic, and help us to internally analyze general traffic patterns and to provide better service to the public. If you prefer not to receive cookies while browsing our website, you can set your browser to warn you before accepting cookies and refuse the cookie when your browser alerts you to its presence. You can also refuse all cookies by turning them off in your browser. You do not need to have cookies turned on to navigate through most of our website.

  • Lincoln Families does not sell, trade, rent or otherwise share any PII collected from online donations, e-news subscriptions or via inquiries to info@lincolnfamilies.org without your permission, except for the purposes for which you specifically provided the PII or as described below. During the year we may send you information about Lincoln Families programs, events or fundraising appeals. We do not participate in telemarketing or direct mail marketing.

    1. Service Providers: We may engage other service providers to work with us to facilitate some aspects of our services. Such service providers may have access to your PII solely for the purposes of providing services to you on our behalf, and are bound by appropriate confidentiality and security obligations. For example, Lincoln has contracted the services of a vendor to process credit card donations submitted online. Our credit card processor’s secured server encrypts your credit card information so that it may be safely transmitted electronically. Your credit card information will not be released by Lincoln Families or its credit card processor to any other party. As another example, a third party vendor collects and securely maintains information that you submit to make a donation. We only have access to that information if you do not identify your donation as being anonymous.

    2. Other Third Parties: We may share aggregated information and non-identifying information with third parties to conduct ongoing quality improvement review, research and analysis, or other similar purposes.

    3. Required or Allowed by Law: We may share PII in response to a subpoena, similar investigative demand, a court order or other request from a law enforcement or government agency where required by applicable law. We may also share your PII when disclosure is required or allowed by law in connection with efforts to investigate, prevent or take other action regarding illegal activity, suspected fraud or other wrongdoing; to protect and defend the rights, property or safety of our company, our clients, our employees, or others; or to enforce other of our agreements or policies.

    4. Business Transactions: We may share PII in connection with a corporate transaction, such as a merger, acquisition or asset sale or in the event of a bankruptcy, as required or allowed by law.

  • During the year we may send you information about Lincoln Families programs, events or fundraising appeals, using the PII provided on our website. You always have the right to opt out of future mailings. When you receive such communications, you will have the opportunity to opt-out, either through managing the preferences in your account or by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in an email that you receive. To opt out of future mailings, you can also call our Development Department at 510.273.4700.

  • We are pleased when young people visit the Lincoln Families site to learn more about our organization. Lincoln does not knowingly solicit data from children and does not knowingly target or intend to attract children under the age of 13.

  • Our website does not have the capability to respond to “Do Not Track” signals received from various web browsers.

  • From time to time we may revise this Privacy Policy. If we make revisions that materially change the way we collect or use your PII, we will notify you by updating this Privacy Policy, and we will update the “Effective Date” below to indicate when those changes become effective.
